Environmental Project Manager

About the Role

    The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and completion of a variety of environmental consulting projects, specifically Iowa Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) projects. An Iowa Certified Groundwater Professional is preferred. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a solid understanding of environmental regulations and practices. The Project Manager will manage project teams, budgets, schedules, and client relationships to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

    Responsibilities:
    • Manage all aspects of environmental consulting projects, from proposal development through project
    closeout.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including scope of work, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
    • Lead and coordinate project teams, including technical staff, subcontractors, and laboratory personnel.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
    • Effectively communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Manage project budgets and track expenses to ensure projects remain within financial constraints.
    • Develop and implement quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures to ensure the accuracy
    and reliability of project deliverables.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
    • Prepare and review technical reports, work plans, and other project-related documentation.
    • Identify and pursue potential business development opportunities within existing and new client
    relationships.
    • Contribute to the overall growth and success of the company.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in environmental consulting project management with preference to those with five (5) plus years of experience.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RBCA, Phase I/Phase II ESA).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed, with company provided vehicle.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Iowa Certified Groundwater Professional (CGP) certification.

  • Experience with site investigation, remediation, and environmental compliance projects in Iowa and surrounding states.

  • Familiarity with Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) regulations and procedures.

  • Experience with proposal writing, report development, and business development.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

  • Familiar with Phase I/Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA).
